In A Cabin With started in 2005 as an initiative by Maarten Besseling, who invited his good friend and producer Jesse Beuker to join the team in 2008.

In A Cabin With (IACW) is an international recording project that invites various musicians for recording sessions in a unique location anywhere in the world. Usually it is collaborations between local musicians and Dutch musicians. Many of which have never worked together before. The main goal of IACW is to create an ongoing collaboration with musicians all over the world and establish clusters to learn and play music together. Every two months our project takes place at a beautiful and inspiring spot somewhere in the world to write, produce and record an entire album. If possible we will present the written and recorded music in one or more live performances at suitable venues after the recordings have ended.

After mixing these recordings in the studio in The Netherlands, the albums are fully available (worldwide) as a FREE download on our website www.inacabinwith.com and several other internet platforms and websites. The actual CD’s will be released and distributed a week later by one of Netherlands biggest distribution companies V2. If the local musicians are signed by a label we try to arrange the actual album to be released in the particular country as well.  Note: In A Cabin With is a not for profit organisation and therefor will not make any profit on the actual albums or music.

Until now the location(s), the inspiration and the isolation of these recording session made it possible to make some fantastic albums. Especially the lastest albums as The Black Atlantic, Steye, Stan Diego and Chop Wood are recieved amazingly well and are well worth downloading, they all had a lot of very positive reviews in almost all the Benelux newspapers and (online) music magazines. Some of our productions are even nominated for a few music prices here in The Netherlands, present their album at showcase festivals like Noorderslag in The netherlands, Ollin Kan in Mexico, SXSW in Austin Texas and/or are signed by several other international labels and bookers (Japan, Germany, France and Italy for instance).
Besides that 60% of the In A Cabin With collaborations resulted in an actual band who now tour across the world and work on new records. The Black Atlantic (touring through Europe and the USA), Chop Wood (touring through Canada, China and The Benelux) and Stan Diego (touring through Mexico, China, Europe and Canada) are some of these examples.

In 2009 we were able to make a TV series (we thank MCN and Orientation Travel Productions greatly) which was recieved very well by a Dutch National Television Company called NPS. The In A Cabin With episodes/documentaries are shown on Dutch National TV in September and Oktober 2009. The episode about Thailand will also be shown on Thai TV.
On the first of March 2010 IACW even made it into the best watched news program on Dutch National Television called De Wereld Draait Door.

In the past In A Cabin With has worked with the following Dutch consuls or embassies: Chicago USA, Miami USA, New York USA, Ottawa Canada, Mexico, Sicily Italy, Egypt, Hungary, Australia and Thailand. In A Cabin With's main partner is Music Center The Netherlands (former NPI). For future session we are still working with several Dutch consuls and embassies, airlines and Music Center The Netherlands.

If local musicians (who work on our sessions) are signed by a local label or company we often arrange the actual album to be released in the particular country as well. For instance: We'll Make It Right will also be released in Japan (including a tour), Chop Wood is playing in Germany and Russia, The Black Atlantic will also be released and tour in Germany, Swiss, Belgium and USA by several labels and Waiting For Eve will also be distributed in France.

We are planning on keeping the IN A CABIN WITH project running for a very long period, we will keep releasing eight actual full length records each year. The TV series 2009 will be a great boost for a 'social' project like ours and we hope it will continue doing so.

Besides that we are also planning several tours, workshops and other meetings with musicians who already met during their In A Cabin With recording session or because In A Cabin With already has the contacts to bring musicians together. For instance:
- We are producing a three week tour of three In A Cabin With acts in Canada in 2010, performing with Canadian musicians and bands, due to the contacts we've made during the session.
- We produced a small In A Cabin With tour and a recording session in Shanghai China because of the World Expo 2010.
- Six times a year we organise House Parties, livingroomconcerts with a twist.
